Recall Banner.png

Recall Marshfield is a collection of residents who are seeking your vote to remove Eric Kelley from his position as a member of our Select Board.  Representing each District, and crossing any and all political lines, Recall Marshfield is determined to preserve the equity and culture of our town.  We hope to secure your vote so we can re-establish what leadership in our community is all about.

Marshfield, MA established its first Board of Selectmen in 1690.  The Select Board serves as the executive branch of our town, overseeing various administrative functions.  The Select Board plays a crucial role in local governance, policy-making, and community services.  It is based on the will of the people, and those elected to the position serve to represent that will.

Eric Kelley has subverted this time-honored tradition of Town Governance by making authoritarian and unilateral executive decisions without the public awareness or approval. His decisions threaten not only our democratic process, but the financial well being of our entire community.

Eric Kelley’s authoritarian approach was finally revealed to the public when he tried to reprimand our Chief of Police, Phil Tavares.  On Wednesday, June 25th, the Chief received a summons from Select Board Chair Eric Kelley to attend an Executive session of the Board on Monday June 30th for an unfounded complaint.  The Chief, as a public servant, elected to exercise his right to make the Executive session public.  The flood of over 200 Marshfield residents that attended in support of Chief Tavares has set in motion the recall effort for which we are now requesting your support.

The Recall Marshfield Committee will continue to post examples of Eric Kelley’s many egregious orders, demands & illegal actions in his role as Chairman of Marshfield’s Board of Selectmen, illustrating why he should be removed from office.  For now, we ask that you sign the petition for Recall so we can begin what then becomes a very fast paced process, following state regulations.  (Click here to sign the recall petition)  Your support is greatly appreciated, as we Recall Marshfield and reclaim the appropriate leadership and independence of our Town.
